The story of AFC Wimbledon is one of the truly great things to have happened in English football in recent memory.

Formed from the ashes of Wimbledon’s controversial move to Milton Keynes nearly two decades ago, AFC Wimbledon have climbed up the pyramid and now find themselves in League One.

Most importantly though, they are finally back home.

After going from Kingsmeadow to Loftus Road, the Dons are back at their original home, Plough Lane, and what a brilliant stadium it is.

The almost 10,000 capacity home crowd was particularly raucous on Saturday as Oxford came to south London and were blown away in a brilliant second half performance.

Will Nightingale and a double from Jack Rudoni were enough for the three points as Mark Robinson’s side climbed up to 10th in the table and secure their second win of the campaign.

Home really is where the heart is.

Honourable mentions

Harrogate are now the only team unbeaten in League Two after they beat Mansfield 3-1 on Saturday.

Goals from Luke Armstrong, Jack Muldoon and George Thomson saw the Yorkshire side past the 10-man Stags as Ollie Clarke and Stephen Quinn were given their marching orders within a minute of each other in the second half.

That’s now four wins and one draw for Harrogate, who only came into the Football League last season but are now enjoying playing in front of fans for the first time.
