The Championship comes up against the Premier League this evening at Deepdale at Preston North End host the superpower of Liverpool in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

The Lilywhites have dispatched three lower league teams in Mansfield Town, Morecambe and Cheltenham Town in order to pit their wits against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However they come into this with a bad defeat under their belts after losing out 2-0 against bitter rivals Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in a Championship fixture at the weekend.

The same cannot be said for the Reds though, who trounced Manchester United 5-0 on Sunday afternoon but it’s unlikely that many players who featured at Old Trafford will grace Deepdale’s turf.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Frankie McAvoy following their defeat at Blackpool over the weekend – Josh Murphy missed out on that one and he will be missing for a few weeks with an ankle injury.

Ched Evans still isn’t fit to return to the squad but Ali McCann will be as McAvoy confirmed and the Northern Ireland international could be one that gets a start, as well as Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg who has been cleared to play against his parent club.

As for the Reds themselves, their line-up is expected to be much-changed from the one that trounced the Red Devils three days ago.

Klopp’s line-up will look much like the one that defeated Norwich in the round prior, which means starts for the likes of Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and many more on the fringes of the Premier League starting 11.
