Hennessey produced another smart stop to prevent Alejandro Garnacho from scoring before Martial was introduced as a substitute by Erik ten Hag.

Martial made an immediate impact for United as he slotted an effort past Hennessey to open the scoring for United.

The Red Devils doubled their lead shortly after Martial’s strike as Fred converted from close range after being teed up by Marcus Rashford.

Instagram to share a brief message.

The Frenchman posted: “Wembley we are coming.

“Thanks God.”

The Verdict

Martial will be hoping that his goal against Forest will be able to ignite his season as his game time has been limited due to a number of different injuries.

Having featured last night, the forward is likely to be utilised by ten Hag this weekend when United face Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

If he is handed the chance to impress at Old Trafford, it will be intriguing to see whether Martial will be able to add to the six goals that he has scored this season in all competitions.

By producing some eye-catching performances in the club’s upcoming fixtures, the 27-year-old could force his way into contention for a place in the Red Devils’ starting eleven for their meeting with Newcastle at Wembley later this month.
