Edu Gaspar spent time visiting Fluminense this weekend, amid reports of Arsenal’s interest in two of their players.

Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar spent time in Brazil this week, over the international break, and he’s reportedly visited a number of clubs including Fluminense, Athletico Paranaense, Corinthians, and Palmeiras.

The Fluminense link will be of particular interest to Arsenal fans, given the recent reports of Gunners interest in a couple of their players.

Thiago Ferreira reports that Arsenal are interested in Liverpool target Andre and young centre-forward Kaua Elias.

Andre is a central midfielder, and he’s made 48 appearances for Fluminense in 2023.

The 22-year-old plays a defensive role for his current side, and he’s no stranger to foul play, picking up four suspensions this year alone – one for a straight red card, one for a second yellow, and two for accumulations of yellow cards.

Andre has been more heavily linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but it seems Arsenal are now also in the mix.

As for Kaua Elias, the 17-year-old is only just making the step up to senior football, making his first-team debut for Fluminense in May.

The teenager is more notable for his exploits with the Brazil u17s at the South American Championship in the spring of this year, as he scored five goals and assisted one in his seven appearances.

Brazil ended up winning the competition, putting Elias and his teammates on the map.

Given Edu visited a number of clubs, not just Fluminense, it’s hard to read too much into his trip.

But if the Gunners are indeed interested in Andre and Kaua Elias, this would have been a good time for the Arsenal technical director to have some initial conversations.
