Arsenal have officially confirmed the appointment of Edu Gaspar as their new technical director.
Edu joins the club after helping Brazil win their first Copa América since 2007, where he was acting as general director.
The 46-year-old will effectively replace chief scout Sven Mislintat who departed north London in January.
“Arsenal have always had a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to be returning to this great club in this new role,” he told the club’s official website.
“We have a strong squad and some very talented young players with fantastic people at every level. I’m looking forward to helping make a difference.”
Edu made 79 appearances for the club during 2001-06, and was a member of the famous ‘Invincible’ side that went a whole season unbeaten in 2004.
