America’s Edson Álvarez left in the first half of Mexico’s 3-1 friendly win against Venezuela due to a brutal kick he took from Júnior Moreno.

He was seen limping into the dressing room and was still hobbling even after the match. However, everything seems to have been just a scare.

Through a message on his Twitter account, Edson Alvarez wanted to send a message to reassure fans that everything is alright.

“Thank God everything was just a scare. Thank you very much, everyone, for your messages.

It seemed that his Gold Cup status was in danger, but fortunately, the player is healthy and will be in Tata Martino’s plans.

Mexico will face Ecuador on Sunday in their final tune-up match before they take on Cuba, Canada, and Martinique in CONCACAF’s biennial tournament.
