Edson Álvarez admits to hearing Real Madrid rumours | OneFootball

Though Ajax only signed Mexico international Edson Álvarez from América over the summer and he has mainly been a disappointment, the 22-year-old has been linked with a huge step up.

It was rumoured back in January that Real Madrid were interested in signing Álvarez and had even sent scouts to watch him in Ajax’s Champions League duel with Valencia, though those reports went unconfirmed.

When asked by Telemundo whether or not he had heard of such rumours, Álvarez admitted he had but denied any further knowledge.

“I have heard the rumour that Real Madrid wanted me, but I don’t know anything about it.

“I continue to work hard because I know that I can achieve great goals. I still have a lot to learn.”

Though he started on Ajax’s back-line early in the season, Álvarez has only made two Eredivisie starts since the end of September.
