After the break, Michael Okeke and Will Dickson added their names to the scoresheet late in the second half.

It means that City took home our first three points of the season after two defeats and a draw in our other three encounters.

WHAT HAPPENED

Our EDS travelled up to Newcastle with some confidence, after hoping to build on a late comeback against Aston Villa saw us claim our first point of the new season last week.

The game started tense as both opponents tested each other’s resolve in defence, but it was City who took their opportunity to break the deadlock.

In the 18th minute of the first half Micah Hamilton played a ball through to Emilio Lawrence who struck finely to put City a goal in front and in control of the contest.

It was a battle for Brian Barry-Murphy’s men who went in ahead at the break.

The second half was met with a flurry of late goals from our EDS, who found a spark to see of the game.

With under 15 minutes to go, Michael Okeke fired home, as we sat more comfortably ahead.

Our no.9 Will Dickson, grabbed a brace to make sure of the victory, as we came away from Tyneside with the first three points of the new campaign.

HOW WE LINED UP

George Murray-Jones retains his position in goal after a heroic performance in the penalty shootout against Grimsby Town in midweek. He was protected by a back four of Lakyle Samuel, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Max Alleyne and Kane Taylor.

Mahamadou Susoho sat in front of the defence, with Micheal Okeke and Micah Hamilton pushing forward in the engine room.

Will Dickson led the attacking line, with Emilio Lawrence and Joel Ndala on the wings in support.
