Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva to leave PSG this summer | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that both Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva will leave the club at the end of the season.

Both players are out of contract in June but will stay at PSG until the current season concludes, with the Champions League and both French domestic cups still to play for.

“Cavani and Thiago Silva? Yes, we are coming to the end,” Leonardo told the Journal de Dimanche.

“The idea is to continue playing with them until the end of August.

“It was a very difficult decision to make; these are players who have marked the history of the club.

“Their stories were so beautiful. But yes, we are coming to the end.

“We had to make a logical decision, economically speaking and with regard to the generation that is coming through.

“Maybe we are wrong, I do not know, there is never a perfect moment. Now the Champions League is still in sight and the idea is to continue competing with them until the end of August. How it can be done is not yet clear [legally].”

Cavani joined PSG from Napoli in 2013 and has since scored 200 goals in 300 games for the club.

Silva moved to the Parc des Princes from AC Milan in 2012 and went on to captain the club to numerous major honours.

Both players will be hoping to bow out in style by finally delivering Champions League glory to the French capital.
