Edin Terzic decided to leave Youssoufa Moukoko on the bench in their huge title clash with Union Berlin, a call that turned out to be correct as the German forward came off the bench to earn Borussia Dortmund an important three points in their title race with Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old came on in place of Sebastien Haller in the 74th minute and just five minutes later he regained Dortmund’s lead, which they would see out to keep the gap to Bayern Munich to just two points. After the match the teenage sensation revealed Terzic’s message to him before the matchday 27 encounter.

“The coach told me: If you come in, you decide the thing,” said Moukoko. And this is exactly what the German did in a massive title bout with capital club Union. Moukoko wasn’t too happy with his coach before the match though.

Terzic revealed after the win that Moukoko wasn’t pleased with a spot on the bench in such a huge game: “He was obviously disappointed that he wasn’t playing.

“I took him aside again and said: It won’t work if you sit on the bench and the dressing room with a grim face.”

The 40-year-old went on to say: “He’s a player who has to smile.

“It’s much easier for him when he enjoys football.”

The striker, who became the youngest player to reach 50 Bundesliga appearances with the substitute appearance will be a huge asset to Terzic and Dortmund as they chase down the Rekordmeister in the remaining seven matches.

It was the teenager’s first goal since November when he scored a double in Dortmund’s 3-0 win over VfL Bochum.

Terzic will be hoping the youngster continues to have a smile on his face as he attempts to win Dortmund their first title in over a decade.
