Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzić has left the club despite taking them to the Champions League final this season.
A statement from the club on Thursday confirmed that Terzić had spoken to the Dortmund hierarchy earlier that morning and will depart after just over two years at the helm.
There have been well-placed rumours over the past few weeks about a rift at the club with veteran Mats Hummels reportedly giving a ‘me or him’ ultimatum after falling out with Terzić this term.
Former midfielder Nuri Şahin is believed to be lined up as a potential replacement.
It was a mixed campaign for Dortmund this time around, finishing fifth in the Bundesliga but getting to Wembley and the Champions League final, before ultimately losing to Real Madrid.
