Though former Flamengo star and current Real Madrid loanee Reinier has only featured for a total of 136 minutes at Borussia Dortmund, the 19-year-old sensation opted to stay at the club despite the opportunity to go on loan elsewhere.
The €30m attacker has been disgruntled with his lack of playing time but manager Edin Terzić has suggested that he will be experiencing more action sooner rather than later.
“He [Reinier] is a very talented player who works hard on himself. He definitely deserves the chance in the near future. He has earned it,” Terzić said in his pre-match press conference.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc also defended Reinier’s decision to remain at the club for the rest of the season, claiming that there will be a resolution between all parties involved.
“We basically don’t want to give him up,” Zorc told reporters. “If someone is dissatisfied because he has too few opportunities, then you talk to each other, but we will not take the initiative ourselves.”
Dortmund face Freiburg on Saturday in Bundesliga action with the home side in ninth place on 27 points, five points behind the black and yellow.
