Edin Terzić was content with Borussia Dortmund’s comfortable Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.
The interim manager may have feared the worst when Milot Rashica gave the visitors an early lead.
However, goals from Giovanni Reyna, Erling Haaland (2), and Theodor Gebre Selassie ensured BVB narrowed the gap to fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt to four points.
It leaves Dortmund still in the hunt for a Champions League place.
“It was a good game from us,” Terzić told Sky Sport.
“But we didn’t play our attacks cleanly through to the end at all times and allowed our opponents too many counter-attacks and too many chances.
“We obviously wanted to avoid that; nonetheless, we were very dominant, created a lot of opportunities – and deserved to win in the end.
“The victory brings us three points closer to our goal.”
Dortmund have just five games left to force their way into the top four.
Die Schwarzgelben will entertain Union Berlin this Wednesday before travelling to Wolfsburg on Saturday.
