Inter striker Edin Dzeko would be happy to stay at Inter past the end of the current season, although the club are undecided on whether to offer him a new deal.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 36-year-old would like to remain at the Nerazzurri past next summer as a backup striker, though it would have to be on lower wages than he currently earns and the club have not yet made a decision on whether to keep him.

Dzeko’s current contract is set to run out at the end of June 2023.

The Bosnian has not yet been offered an extension.

The Nerazzurri are currently considering whether to keep hold of Dzeko, and their determination about his future will also be based on his performances over the rest of the current season.

In any event, however, the player would be happy to remain at the club, and would accept a role as a backup striker.

Dzeko currently earns €5.5 million net per season, and this amount would have to be lowered if he were to be offered a new deal.
