Roma striker Edin Dzeko is considering the possibility of terminating his contract with the Giallorossi this summer, potentially paving the way to a free transfer to Inter.

The Bosnia international has endured a tumultuous season at the Stadio Olimpico after a public spat with coach Paulo Fonseca, and came close to joining Inter in an exchange deal involving Alexis Sanchez.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter may yet be able to bring in Dzeko as contemplates leaving Roma a year ahead of the expiry of his contract.

The capital club would be willing to release Dzeko a year in advance in an effort to remove his €7.5 million per season salary off their wage bill, particularly in light of his troubled relationship with the club hierarchy.

Inter coach Antonio Conte remains a keen admirer of the 35-year-old and Inter could swoop for him as a back-up option to Romelu Lukaku. Indeed, the Nerazzurri’s continued interest may well play a part in convincing Dzeko to end his time at Roma.

The former Manchester City striker joined the Giallorossi on loan in 2015 before completing a permanent switch the following season, and has scored 117 goals in 252 games.
