Edin Dzeko could end up staying at Roma this season but a move to Inter remains a more likely option, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Giallorossi’s owner James Pallotta is worried it would be impossible to find an adequate replacement for the Bosnian striker this late in the transfer window.

However, the American has never previously stood in the way of anybody who wanted to leave the club since completing his takeover in 2011.

“If Dzeko really did stay in Rome, which at this stage is a credible scenario, it would mark a momentous turning point in the history of Pallotta’s ownership,” the paper assured this morning.

Dzeko has been one of Roma’s most impressive players throughout preseason and remains an extremely important player for the club.

Having still not received an offer he believes to be satisfactory, Pallotta will be tempted to keep the former Manchester City striker for the final year of his contract, despite the risk of losing him for free in 2020.
