Ederson has been named The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper for 2023 at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London.

The City No.31 was up against Moroccan international Yassine Bounou and Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois for the accolade which covered the period 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023.

It caps a remarkable 12 months for the Brazilian who has won the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FA Cup with City.

FIFA originally announced a five-man shortlist in September, but Andre Onana and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were both eliminated as it was reduced to three finalists.

The original quintet were chosen by a panel of experts, with the final three selected by an international jury comprising: men’s national team coaches, men’s national team captains, football journalists, and fans who voted on FIFA’s official website.

Ederson, who has made 315 appearances for the Club and has 16 trophies to show for his seven seasons with the Blues, played a pivotal role in all our successes in the past calendar year but perhaps none more so than his vital stops in the Champions League final against Inter where he kept a clean sheet during an outstanding performance.

Ederson was nominated for the Ballon d’Or Yashin Award earlier this season but lost out to Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Ederson on this fantastic achievement.
