Manchester City’s number one keeper Ederson has been named in Brazil’s Copa America squad. The tournament will take place in the United States from June 20 to July 14. On top of Ederson’s inclusion in the Brazilian squad, there are several other reasons for City fans to keep an eye on how Brazil performs at the tournament.

Brazil manager Dorival Junior named his 23-man squad for this summers Copa America yesterday. On top of Ederson being named in the squad, Yan Couto was also picked in the Brazilian squad. Winger Savio was also picked in the squad. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that the winger is due to be signed by Manchester City this summer. With that in mind, how he performs at the tournament will be of particular interest to Manchester City fans. The full Brazilian squad can be seen below.

Manchester City fans could get a glimpse of two promising youngsters at the Copa America.

While Ederson’s quality is well known, there is an opportunity at this summer’s Copa America to see how Savio and Yan Couto perform on the big stage. Though it could potentially be for two different reasons.

Girona manager Michel called Savio a special player earlier this week. His performances for Girona have been a key factor in Girona’s rise to securing Champions League football for next season. With his eye for a goal, crossing ability, and his wizardry with the ball at his feet, he looms as a potentially exciting summer arrival at Manchester City. While the Brazilian squad is packed with attacking talent, if Savio can make an impression at the Copa America, it would be a promising sign ahead of his anticipated move to Manchester City.

Yan Couto’s strong season for Girona has led to his call up to Brazil’s Copa America squad. Mike Minay has reported for the BBC that Manchester City will listen to offers for the young right-back. Couto has the potential to put himself firmly in the shop window with some good performances at the tournament. He could also potentially play his way into Pep Guardiola’s future plans if he can have an impressive Copa America campaign. While it appears he is likely headed for a permanent move this summer, it isn’t out of the realms of possibility that he could play his way into Pep Guardiola’s squad. Both prospects are in play if Couto continues his fine club form for Brazil this summer.

The Copa America is traditionally one of the premier international tournaments on the football calendar. Brazil are so often one of the must-see attractions of any tournament they enter. But there are several reasons for Manchester City fans to monitor the 5-time World Champions’ progress at this year’s tournament.
