However, the forward has admitted he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge after the World Cup as it is his ‘dream to play in Spain’.

Though following talks with the club and new boss Maurizio Sarri, he elected to stay and is happy with his decision after Chelsea started the season in blistering fashion.

“I will tell you the truth,” he told BT Sport. “After the World Cup I wanted to leave because my dream is to play in Spain.

“Then I spoke to the board and the manager and I said ‘I can stay no problem’. The new manager has come in and we are enjoying playing with him and I’m happy I stayed. I’ve got three years on my contract left.”

Hazard scored against Liverpool in Saturday’s 1-1 draw and also netted the winning goal to knock the Reds out of the Carabao Cup three days earlier and looks to be enjoying life under the new regime.

Asked if he could see himself staying at Chelsea for the rest of his career, he said: “Yes for sure, but also the possibility is that I can leave also. I love the club, the fans, the city and my team-mates, I think, love me so it’s easy to stay. But if I leave or if I stay I will be happy. This club is now part of my life so we will see.”
