As per Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have been informed by Olympique Marseille that a potential deal for Eddie Nketiah can be considered ‘100% collapsed’.

The French side have been interested in the striker throughout the summer so far, but saw a €27million proposal turned down and were unwilling to meet Arsenal’s demands, which reportedly involved them receiving €30m in a loan with an obligation-to-buy.

Subsequently, Marseille turned their attention elsewhere, and now look set to seal a €30m deal for Lens’ Elye Wahi.

This is despite the 25-year-old already agreeing to personal terms on five-year deal with Roberto De Zerbi’s new side, whom he is keen to join – according to The Athletic.

Nketiah was set to move from his boyhood side two summers ago upon the expiry of his contract, but opted to sign a new contract with the club until 2027, in the hope of earning more game time under Mikel Arteta.

At that point, the once-capped England international had just completed a season in which he scored five in eight starts and 21 appearances in the Premier League. That rate – a goal every 165 minutes – is better than those he has managed in the in the following years, having only managed five in 10 starts last season, and four in nine in the 2022/23 campaign.

However, this doesn’t include goals in other competitions, nor his record-holding tally for England’s under-21 team, where he accumulated 16 goals in 17 appearances.

Consequently, due to this natural goal scoring instinct, and his endless work-rate in making threatening runs and intelligently leading the press, Nketiah will be of interest to multiple clubs this summer – both in England and around Europe.
