Premier League official announcement – 2 January 2025:
Four managers have been nominated for the December 2024 Barclays Manager of the Month award, and you can help to decide who wins.
You, the fans, have until 12:00 GMT on Monday 6 January to select your favourite out of Nuno Espirito Santo, Eddie Howe, Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot.
The supporters’ votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be revealed next week.
Barclays Manager of the Month shortlist Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest) P6 W5 D0 L1 GF10 GA6 GD+4 Nuno is looking to win the award for the second time in three months and for the sixth time in his career. The Portuguese took Nottingham Forest to second in the Premier League table for the first time since 1994, with five wins from six matches, including three consecutive clean sheets to end the month.
Eddie Howe (Newcastle) P6 W4 D1 L1 GF18 GA7 GD+11 Howe took Newcastle United from 10th to fifth in December with four wins and a draw from six matches, including a draw with leaders Liverpool and victories over Aston Villa and Manchester United. Newcastle averaged three goals per game across the month and ended December with four successive clean sheets, scoring 13 unanswered goals. Like Nuno, Howe is in contention to win the award for a sixth time in his career.
Andoni Iraola (AFC Bournemouth) P6 W3 D3 L0 GF9 GA4 GD+5 Iraola’s AFC Bournemouth were in the bottom half at the start of December but rose to seventh after an unbeaten month that included wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Man Utd. The Cherries conceded just four goals in six matches – only Arsenal, who played one match fewer, had a better defensive record in December.
Arne Slot (Liverpool) P6 W4 D2 L0 GF21 GA9 GD+12 Slot is looking to win the award for a second successive month after leaders Liverpool ended December unbeaten and eight points clear at the top of the table. The Dutchman’s side scored a staggering 21 goals across their six matches, including putting six past Spurs. It meant Slot ended 2024 with just one league loss as a manager across 51 matches in England and the Netherlands.
