Eddie Howe and the players hoping to follow up ten points in the Premier League from the opening four games, with another three points from this Fulham match.

A win would take Newcastle United top of the table, a point clear of Man City and three ahead of Arsenal, with that pair meeting on Sunday at the Etihad.

Eddie Howe has said that Alexander Isak is an injury doubt for Fulham and (as well as the quotes below) said today that Callum Wilson won’t be available, though he hopes to have him back in train by the time we get to the next international break, which is two weeks away.

Eddie Howe saying he is happy with his strength in depth in that area. With both Anthony Gordon and Will Osula able to to play through the middle if Alexander Isak isn’t available on Saturday.

Eddie Howe speaking at his Fulham press conference on Friday morning:

Eddie Howe on his squad’s mentality:

“I see a really motivated team, a motivated squad, that want to do something really special this year.

“The commitment to our training has been very good.”

Eddie Howe on Sandro Tonali:

“I think Sandro is in a much better place, the international games really helped him.

“He’s certainly pushing to start but I want everyone pushing to start.

“He was very good against Wolves; we have really good competition for places in midfield.”

Eddie Howe on Harvey Barnes:

“Harvey has a real coolness in front of goal, he has this way he strikes the ball, his positioning is very good.

“You don’t score the amount of goals he does if you are not in the right areas.

He is a really humble lad and he is prepared to work for the team – I am delighted with how he has started the season.”

Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak:

“The ball grazed his eye, we thought that was the main reason for him coming off the pitch.

“Then we found he had a knock on his foot.

“We will find out more today and make a decision on him.”

Eddie Howe on Sean Longstaff:

“Sean has been very good since I’ve been here.

“He’s been brilliant to work with.

“His performances have improved, he’s still got areas to work on like every player has but he’s fundamentally important to us.

“Competition in midfield is higher than it has ever been and he’s going to be aware of that.

“He’s competing with very good players for a starting place.”

Eddie Howe on Lewis Miley:

“Lewis is a long way off, back on the grass but not with us yet.

“We still have long-term injuries but nothing else fresh [ahead of the weekend].”
