Luciano Spalletti’s Italy play out their second friendly of the international break in New Jersey this evening, facing a spirited Ecuador.

The match between La Tricolor and the Azzurri kicks off at 20.00 UK time at the Red Bull Arena, home of the New York Red Bulls.

Italy showed a number of positives and negatives in their first friendly of the break, edging out a 2-1 win over Venezuela after a brace from Mateo Retegui, who sent a clear message to Spalletti ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

Ecuador also found success in their previous friendly, picking up a 2-0 win over Guatemala after goals from John Yeboah and Gonzalo Plata.

Spalletti is expected to experiment with his starting line-up for the clash with Ecuador, bringing in players like Giacomo Raspadori, Nicolo Zaniolo, Raoul Bellanova and Guglielmo Vicario.

The Azzurri have faced la Tricolor twice before in their history, picking up a 2-0 win in the 2002 World Cup group stage and a 1-1 draw in a friendly in 2005.
