Paris Saint-Germain were dealt a potentially huge injury blow when Neymar was stretchered off during their win over Saint-Étienne on Sunday.

The Brazilian left the field in tears after rolling his ankle in a tackle and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

It looked like a very nasty injury but RMC Sport report on Sunday evening that it might not have been quite as bad as it looked.

Neymar will undergo a thorough examination on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury and whether any bones were fractured in the challenge.

But RMC say an initial examination from the club’s medical staff revealed he may just have sprained the ankle, and could miss around six weeks of action.

If that is the case, the 29-year-old should be back in action in time for PSG’s first Champions League knockout tie in February and perhaps Brazil’s next World Cup qualifier at the end of January.

They will be crossing their fingers for good news in the French capital and Neymar’s homeland.
