He’s formed quite a partnership with Emil Riis up front for the Lilywhites and his tireless running and work in getting the ball into the right areas has led to him having two assists so far this season.

22 questions about Preston North End’s away kits from over the years – Can you get full marks?

With his newfound importance in the side, it will therefore be a blow for North End fans to hear that he could be out of action for his side’s next game against Derby County.

The striker has managed to remain relatively fit and injury free recently but he was forced to hobble off for Preston in his club’s last game just before we entered the international break and the bad news is that he may have to sit out the next few fixtures.

The injury is believed to be hamstring related and could mean that Maguire has to miss several key games – he could miss the fixture against the Rams but depending on how bad it is, it may also mean he has to miss the likes of the Coventry game, Blackpool game and the Luton Town clash.

Maguire could be back to full fitness in a week or it could be a few – the club have currently not revealed how long he may face out. However, North End fans will be hoping the injury is nothing too serious and that he can enter the action again sooner rather than later.

Sean Maguire has re-found some of his best form in a Preston shirt so far this year and has been key to the form of red-hot striker Emil Riis for the Lilywhites.

His work both on and off the ball has allowed the Denmark man to thrive and it’s a blow that he may now be facing some time on the sidelines.

PNE will be hoping that the injury is nothing too bad, as his work-rate is important for the side, especially with some important games coming up. If he misses just the Derby game and then returns for the fixture against Coventry or Blackpool, then that would likely be the best scenario for North End and their fans.
