Eintracht are looking to carry the momentum from Thursday’s 3-1 win over Olympiacos into their away match at Bochum.

Less than 24 hours after their UEFA Europa League victory over Olympiacos, Eintracht have already turned their attention towards the upcoming Bundesliga trip to VfL Bochum. Oliver Glasner put his players through their paces in a training session on Friday, and will do so again on Saturday before the match at 19:30 CEST on Sunday.

Recent history on Eintracht’s side

Thomas Reis’ team have ample cause for optimism ahead of the clash with Frankfurt, having registered more Bundesliga wins against the Eagles than against any other side (23, compared to 22 defeats). VfL have a particularly good record at “anne Castroper”, which Bochum supporters affectionately call their Ruhrstadion home. Eighteen of their 23 league victories against SGE have come on home soil – another club record in the top flight.

It has been a different story in recent years, however, with Eintracht winning their previous five games against Bochum in all competitions.

Eagles handed Reis top-flight debut in 1992

Sunday’s meeting will be a particularly special one for 48-year-old Reis, who was handed his Bundesliga debut by Dragoslav Stepanovic in the closing stages of Eintracht’s match against VfB Stuttgart on 4 October 1992. Reis has been in the VfL hotseat for two years and recently guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Greuther Fürth, which lifted Bochum up to 15th in the table – one place behind Eintracht – going into Matchday 9.
