Djibril Sow kept his place in the starting line-up for Switzerland’s 1-0 loss to Brazil, while Jesper Lindström and Denmark are going all-out for victory against Australia on Wednesday.

Casemiro scored the only goal in the 83rd minute as Switzerland were beaten 1-0 by Brazil on Monday. Sow, who started the match before being replaced by Michel Äbischer 14 minutes from time, said afterwards: “Conceding the opening goal so near the end is really frustrating. Every defeat is a downer, but we now want to win our crucial game against Serbia on Friday – and we will.”

Elsewhere, Eintracht’s Jesper Lindström cut a frustrated figure in the mixed zone after Denmark’s 2-1 defeat by France on Saturday. “Of course we’re disappointed, we deserved at least a point.” said the 22-year-old, who had an opportunity to put Denmark in front in the 73rd minute but was thwarted by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. “Now it’s important that we win Wednesday’s game against Australia.”

While the Danish Dynamite aim to get the victory they need to qualify for the last 16, Randal Kolo Muani will have another opportunity to make his World Cup debut when France face Tunisia at the same time. L’Equipe Tricolore have already booked their place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
