EA Sports respond as Raiola threatens legal action over Ibrahimovic-FIFA image rights saga | OneFootball

EA Sports have responded to accusations from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his agent Mino Raiola that they are unauthorised to use his name and face in their new game FIFA 21.

Milan announced back in August that they had signed a new exclusive multi-year deal with EA Sports FIFA, who will become the club’s Official Football Gaming Partner.

Ibrahimovic believes that they are not entitled to use his name and face and he hit out at EA on Twitter yesterday, threatening to begin an investigation into why they are ‘making profit on my name and face without any agreement’.

His agent Mino Raiola backed him up, tweeting: “@EASPORTS it is 10 years you are dodging me on the rights of players questions. Maybe now you will reply, or only in Court?”

“@FIFPro and @ACMilan do not have players individual rights as I’m sure you know and we’ve told you many times @easports,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

However, EA Sports have now issued their own official response to the accusations on social media, conveyed by MilanNews.

“FIFA is the football video game world leader and to create an authentic experience, year after year we work with numerous leagues, teams and talents to ensure the similarity rights of the players we include.

“One of them is a longstanding relationship with the global representative of professional footballers, Fifpro, which collaborates with a number of licensees to negotiate agreements for the benefit of athletes and their unions.”
