Dybala only 9 games away from automatic contract renewal

Paulo Dybala is steps away from seeing his contract with Roma extended.

Dybala’s current contract contains a clause that provides that the current agreement – expiring on June 30, 2025 – will be extended for a further season upon reaching 50% of appearances over the three-year Giallorossi period (from 2022 to 2025).

These appearances, however, are tied to two fundamental aspects: they must be from the start and must see Dybala on the pitch for at least 45 minutes.

To date Dybala has played 93 of the 129 games that Roma have played so far since Paulo put on the Giallorossi jersey.

In these 93 games he has started in the starting lineup 72 times, playing at least 45 minutes in 69 circumstances.

Here is the data that interests us is precisely this one, these 69 games. Which, compared to the total 129, would mean that to date Dybala has started (and played at least 45 minutes) 53.5% of Roma’s games.

In short, if the season ended today Dybala would automatically have his contract renewed.

Except that the Giallorossi season will not end here, but in its worst case it includes at least 23 more league games, three Europa League games and one Coppa Italia game.

In total at least 27 more games, which means that to reach 50% of the appearances needed for the renewal Dybala must play a third of the remaining games. And that is, exactly 9 (so far he has played 10 out of 16 with this modality), writes La Gazzetta dello Sport.

If the Giallorossi were to advance, the numbers would change. If the Giallorossi reached the final of both Europa League and Coppa Italia, La Joya would have 16 games left (85 out of 170), a problem that Dybala would gladly face in exchange for two finals.
