Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has pleaded with the club to bring Jadon Sancho back and reintegrate him into the squad amidst his row with Erik ten Hag.

Sancho was banished from the United first team after he publicly branded his manager a liar and insisted he was being made a scapegoat for the club’s failings.

In early September last year, Ten Hag told reporters that Sancho was left out of the matchday squad that made its way to London to face Arsenal due to his poor performances in training.

In response, the England international issued a strongly-worded statement refuting the manager’s claims. Sancho was offered multiple chances to apologise but remained adamant that he did nothing wrong.

Club bosses even made efforts to repair the pair’s relationship but nothing worked. A decision was made to send the player away to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.

At Signal Iduna Park, Sancho has rediscovered some of the form that convinced United to initially buy him. Over the weekend, he scored a spectacular goal for Dortmund against RB Leipzig and in doing so, became the highest-scoring Englishman in Bundesliga history, overtaking Tony Woodcock.

His strike was however not enough at the end of the day as they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat.

Yorke had his say on the Sancho situation (via The Manchester Evening News) and insisted that the 24-year-old can still come good at Old Trafford under the right conditions.

The 1999 treble winner said, “Compared to Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho’s situation is different. He’s very talented, but he needs to be integrated into the team.”

“Sancho did not play with the talent he has because Man United’s football is not free-flowing. Sancho is seen as a ‘baller’, but he hasn’t been able to show that.”

Yorke added, “Imagine going to work, where you’re unhappy, would you perform at your best?”

“No. Sancho has to go into training not happy, always questioning something, that’s not where a ‘baller’ should be, he needs to play in a better environment.”

As the summer approaches, a definitive decision on Sancho is one of the things Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will need to make, although it’s believed the Red Devils are open to selling him for the right price.
