Dwight McNeil was delighted to get off the mark for Everton in their preseason win against Dynamo Kyiv.

McNeil, who penned a five-year deal at Goodison Park on Thursday, stepped off the bench as a second-half substitute to net a brace in the Toffees' convincing 3-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Club's final pre-season fixture.

Everton's Premier League campaign begins with the visit of Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea on Saturday 6 August (5.30pm BST) - and McNeil is champing at the bit to build on a promising start to life in Royal Blue.

"It's nice to be around it with the lads," he told the club's website afterwards. "I've obviously only been here a day or so, but playing and scoring helps to settle in and everyone had got behind me. It was a good win and now we're looking forward to the season ahead.

"It wasn't a difficult decision to come here. It came around so fast and it was a no-brainer for me - I'm really happy to be here.

"The manager has just told me to enjoy my football and he wants me to help the team get higher up the pitch.

"Obviously, it was nice to come on and score twice. It's a boost to have that confidence and belief from people around you. Now I'm just looking forward to the season, because we've got a massive game coming up against Chelsea.

"I feel like I'm settling in already - it helps when you know a couple of the lads already, but I'm happy to be here and excited to get going. I want to help the team as much as I possibly can.

"We know how big a game it is and how good Chelsea can be, but we are only looking at it from our perspective and focusing on what we have to do.

"Getting a good start is important. We want to get points on the board early and get that confidence flowing from the start."
