Dušan Tadić did something truly historic on Tuesday night.

Not only did he guide Ajax into the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2003 but also impressed the journalists at L’Equipe.

And that is not easy to do.

The French paper is notorious for their player ratings, very rarely giving a perfect 10 out of 10.

Last night though, that’s exactly exactly Tadic got for his masterclass at Santiago Bernabéu, joining the likes of Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Neymar as recent recipients.

The first of those 10s actually came in the same game when Bruno Martini and Franck Suazee helped France beat Greece in the 1988 Under-21 Espoirs Championship.

Lars Winfield is the only goalkeeper to get the honour after he helped Aarhus beat Nantes in the Uefa Cup back in 1997.

Messi meanwhile has been given a perfect score twice – the first time around when he dismantled Arsenal in the Champions League and again two years’ later when Barcelona beat Bayer Leverkusen 7-1.
