Durham have announced the news that Kosovo international forward Liz Ejupi has left the club by mutual consent.

The Wildcats made the announcement via a squad update on their official club website this morning.

Ejupi has spent the last 18 months with Durham after joining the club in the summer 2021 transfer window. The player has struggled with a couple of niggling injuries during her time at Maiden Castle while she has been a regular on the bench this season.

The forward has made 16 appearances for Durham in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored two goals. Just one of her league outings has come in the 2022/2023 campaign. Ejupi’s highlights from her time in County Durham include netting the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers last season and scoring for the club in an impressive 2-0 away win at Bristol City in 2021/2022.

Ejupi is well-travelled in the Barclays Women’s Championship. She has represented several clubs in the second tier in recent years and it seems likely that her next career move could be to play at the same level.

Durham are currently the joint sixth-highest goalscorers in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship. The Wildcats will be keen to hit the goal trail in the second half of the season but at this stage, it is not known if they will look to add another striker to their ranks after parting ways with Ejupi.
