The Wildcats announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.
Briggs first turned out for Durham in 2017. Since making her debut, she has gone on to make 142 appearances for the club in all competitions. The player’s strong performances this season helped Durham to push for promotion before eventually finishing the campaign in fourth position in the Barclays WSL2 table.
The midfielder is one of Durham’s top players and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for an extended period.
After signing on again with Durham, Briggs said “I’m really pleased. Off the back of a really successful season the opportunity was given to me, and we’re moving in the right direction so I was really pleased to sign another contract for a club that I’ve been at for a long time.
“Last season, as a team we felt really together and I think you could see that in our performances. Of course we’ve gone away and reflected and there’s things we want to improve on, but there’s a really big opportunity to go and show what we can do in the new season.
“The fans here have pushed us over the line four, five or six times during the season. It doesn’t matter whether we’re home or away, they’re in their numbers supporting us and we’re all really looking forward to seeing them in the new season.”
Briggs follows youngster Grace Ayre in extending her contract with Durham this summer.
