Dundee manager Tony Docherty will serve a one-match touchline ban for their forthcoming game against Celtic. Docherty gave Celtic a major boost in their title aspirations after leading his team to a 0-0 draw against Rangers at Dens Park last night. However, he will be in the stands when Brendan Rodgers’ side visit the City of Discovery at the end of this month.

After being booked in the draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie at the weekend, which sealed their place in the Top Six, Docherty must now serve a touchline ban as his side look to challenge St Mirren for what might be a European place.

Dundee have been beaten three times this season by Celtic, losing 3-0 and 7-1 at Celtic Park as well as a 3-0 defeat at Dens on Boxing Day. The Dees have shown that they are not just content to be in the top six, they are looking to scrap for every point until the end of the season. However, Docherty will be hoping that Celtic can do his side a favour and dispatch Aberdeen, meaning that fifth place in the Premiership will earn a European place.

Celtic’s gap at the top of the table was reduced to three points after Rangers drew 0-0 at Dens, meaning that Brendan’s side are now in a favourable position going into the split. The first challenge will be to overcome the Dark Blues at Dens.
