Dumornay, Riviere, Spencer and others gearing up for UWCL | OneFootball

MIAMI, Florida – The season in Europe is just getting started, with players from Concacaf already making a difference in their teams and helping them shape their path to success.

The Women’s UEFA Champions League, the most renowned tournament in Europe, is in its qualifying stages, with new teams trying to get into the group stage for the first time ever in the competition.

Last season, Manchester United finished in second position in the English Women’s Super League, earning a shot at the UWCL qualifiers for the first time in their history. Taking advantage of their chance, they went all out against PSG in a first ever encounter, with Canadian DF Jayde Riviere appearing in the starting XI in Manchester United’s most important match of the season so far.

Riviere faced the match with the rest of the team with strength, coming back from behind, going into the second leg with a 1-1 draw, still with chances to advance to play their first ever UWCL.

Another milestone took place in London with one of Canada’s captains, MF Jessie Fleming, who reached her 100th appearance for Chelsea FC. Over these past years, Fleming has been an important player, as she is with her National Team, to reach the highest of levels for the Blues. Now, she and the rest of the squad have started their quest to defend their domestic title this season and go as far as possible in the UWCL and other tournaments.

FW Melchie Dumornay from the Haitian Women’s National Team keeps writing her own history. Last week, she scored her first goal with current French champions Olympique Lyonnais against Girondins de Bordeaux in the Division 1 Feminine in France, proving she will be ready when the time comes for the eight-time UWCL champions to debut at this year's group stage.

One of the stars of the Jamaican Women's National Team, GK Rebecca Spencer, started in Tottenham Hotspur’s first win of the season in the WSL, helping her side to two victories in a row.

Teammate and captain Shelina Zadorsky, a key player for Canada, also had the spotlight on her this past week, as she started in Tottenham’s first win in the Women’s League Cup.
