Denzel Dumfries assures Inter have put the 2023 Champions League Final behind them and trust their defence can hold out against Manchester City this evening.

It kicks off at the Etihad Stadium at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

This is a replay of the 2023 Champions League Final, which saw Rodri score the only goal in Istanbul to hand the trophy to the English club for the first time.

“It’s a new season, a new Champions League,” Dumfries told Sky Sport Italia.

“Manchester City are a great team, we must respect them, but are concentrated on going for the victory.

“Istanbul is the past, that was a different season and we were coming off a great year. We have to accept that result, but now we are concentrated on this game.”

It is also a battle between the reigning Champions of England and Italy, although the Nerazzurri have stuttered so far this season with two wins and two draws in Serie A.

Erling Haaland, on the other hand, has scored nine goals in just four Premier League matches.

“Inter are well-known for their very strong defence, so we have faith in our capabilities and are ready for today’s challenge,” assured Dumfries.

Yann Bisseck is picked in the back three along with Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, who they hope can neutralise the Norway international.

There is also danger from Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rodri, while Phil Foden is ready to come off the bench.
