Denzel Dumfries has agreed to sign a new contract with Inter after returning from his holiday, but Manchester United still pose a potential threat, reports suggest.

The 28-year-old Dutch full back has just under a year left on his current contract with the Nerazzurri and looked likely to depart this summer after his salary requests weren’t matched by the club, but now things have changed as the 2024-25 season approaches.

Dumfries was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the summer, but the English side’s insistence on including Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a possible deal pushed away Inter. He was also linked with a move to Aston Villa, but a concrete move never materialised.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how Dumfries has agreed to sign a four-year contract with Inter, worth around €4m net per season plus add-ons. He’s expected to put pen to paper on the deal after returning from his holiday in early August.

Manchester United still pose a threat for the Dutch full back, however. They’ve not yet agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Noussair Mazraoui and have identified the Nerazzurri man as one of their top alternatives.
