Brentford bowed out of the League Cup in the second round of the competition following a 5-3 defeat to Dulwich Hamlet Reserves on Sunday afternoon.

A much-changed Brentford side struggled to ever gain a foothold on the game as Dulwich were the superior team for the majority of the match. A hat-trick from substitute Chloe Logie in just 10 minutes came too little too late for the Bees as Dulwich claimed their place in the third round of the League Cup with the win.

Goalkeeper Evie Witek was the only player to remain in the squad as Karleigh Osborne fielded a completely different outfield side to the team who were narrowly beaten 4-3 against Southampton Women in the FA Cup last weekend.

The Bees played a back four of Aya Mirjan, Maddie Heavingham Ford, Mollie Dench and Chloe Webb. Jodie Reid partnered Nour Aboul Khier in the central midfield positions with Ella Cottrell playing just head, whilst Ellen Wardlaw, Ashley Arquette and Lucy Bolitho formed a front free.

It was a slow start from Brentford with the visitors nearly finding themselves a goal down in the opening five minutes after a Dulwich forward took the ball around Witek, before striking the post with her shot from a tight angle.

The hosts made the most out of their positive start to the game and were two goals up 15 minutes in with the strikes coming on 10 and 12 minutes.

Bolitho thought she had pulled one back for the visitors when she ran onto the end of a brilliant pass from Mirjan, but the forward’s effort was well saved by the Dulwich keeper.

Brentford eventually began to enjoy some good spells of possession from the half-hour mark in the opening half.

Despite the side's possession, the Bees poised little threat in the final third as they struggled to break down the Dulwich back line.

Brentford came out in the second half eager to make their mark on the game but Dulwich again started the half the better of the two sides.

The home team were able to profit from a Brentford mistake to score their third of the match on 53 minutes.

Dulwich continued to put pressure on an unfamiliar Brentford backline with the home side extending their lead just after the hour mark.

Not long after it was five to the home side when the Dulwich forward found herself through on goal only for Witek to make a great save, but the rebound was tapped it from six yards out.

Rebekah Edwards came on to make her first appearance for the first team since giving birth with the forward making some good touches in her 30-minute display.

On 68 minutes Karleigh Osborne introduced top scorer Chloe Logie who came on and put in a top performance for the side.

The striker scored a hat-trick in 10 minutes with her final goal coming on 90 minutes as the visitors were shown a route back into the game.

The best of the three goals came when Edwards played an excellent ball through to the striker who ran onto the ball calmly slotting it into the bottom corner.

Logie was unable to help the Bees anymore with her goals coming slightly too late as Dulwich held out for the win.

Brentford Women: Witek, Mirjan (Edwards, 60’), Arquette, Aboul Khier (Troth, 68’), Webb, Reid (Read, 60’), Bolitho (Logie, 68’), Wardlaw, Cottrell, Dench (Graham, 75’), Heavingham-Ford
