More news of the potential Ibrox takeover, just after yet another demoralising defeat. How convenient eh?…

There was yet more breaking news yesterday regarding not just one of the best potential takeover ever, but the best ever potential takeover in the history of football.

It’s of course a follow up on the Keith Jackson ‘exclusive’ which informed us of a possible potential investment from a US based consortium who have links to the greatest and richest ever side in the history of the NFL, and indeed any sport on the planet, the San Francisco 49ers.

Apparently the deal to make theRangers the richest and most powerful club on the planet has been agreed in principle, and they are just waiting on the ‘due diligence’ (that’s a closer look under the bonnet) taking place before anything is concluded and announced, which will most likely be in the summer.

As with the first exclusive, it’s all been revealed through a ‘source’ and no one has actually said anything on the record. But of course that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening, and good luck to them if it does all go through, as we are in dire need of a credible challenge.

If they do get the investment and kick-on from the dire straights that they are in then that will encourage Celtic to put the foot on the pedal.

But you can call be cynical, but it’s also rather convenient that news of this proposed ‘takeover’ is announced on the end of yet another demoralising defeat, the third in a row at Ibrox.

It certainly worked too as the unrestrained joy poured from their forums and their social media accounts yesterday and into this morning. Maybe they should have learned by now to do some due dilligence of their own to get a better idea of how any such deal might end up looking.

David Low, who helped bring Fergus McCann into Celtic, was on Celtic Exchange Podcast with Tino a few days ago and talked about this proposed Ibrox takeover after discussing  how Celtic could fund a redevelopment of the Main Stand. It’s well worth a listen….
