Dudik leaves: 2 players Carlisle United should loan out this summer

Carlisle United need to look at players that they can move out of the club this summer – both temporarily and permanently.

The desire for the Blues to get rid of some of the players from last season's squad, both from people within Brunton Park and the fans, is well-known and well-accepted.

Manager Paul Simpson has told some players that they are free to search for other opportunities if they would like to but didn't name them or give a number on just how many he would like to move on.

Last season was a terrible one for Carlisle, but the hope is that it will be a bit of a blessing. The Piataks completed their takeover of the club during the 2023/24 campaign. This summer transfer window, the second window of their tenure, is seen as one that could be a real turning point for the club.

To get the team to the level that the new owners and the boss want it to be - a promotion-winning one - additions to a poor squad are key. They have already convinced former Wrexham AFC defender Aaron Hayden to rejoin the club three seasons on from leaving for north Wales.

Reports also suggest that Inverness Caledonian Thistle left-back Cameron Harper is on his way to the Cumbrian side.

Simpson will need to make sure that there is enough space in his squad to get all the players in that he wants to and that could mean some temporary moves away from Carlisle for a couple of their players.

These are two options for players that the Blues should look to find new homes for the 2024/25 season.

Gabe Breeze

Gabe Breeze won a lot of fans over with his brief spell in the first XI around the turn of the year. He wasn't able to achieve a professional clean sheet in any of his four starts but his efforts were eventually rewarded with a new three-year contract.

He looked like he might have been the de facto second choice for the upcoming campaign, but the recent signing of former Newcastle United and Celtic youth team shot-stopper Jude Smith has thrown that into question.

"I want somebody who is in between Harry [Lewis] and Gabe in terms of experience and age," said Simpson prior to the end of last season, via the News & Star. In Smith, he may have found what he was looking for.

This should allow the young Cumbrian keeper to find a home elsewhere for now; somewhere for him to continue to develop and get regular minutes. Getting him to a team like Gateshead or another high-ranking National League side would be best for all parties.

Anton Dudik

Simpson likes to make these project signings every now and then. He brought in Jayden Harris from Aldershot at the start of the promotion-winning campaign of 22/23. That move didn't work out, as Harris has recently moved on to Sutton United, but the vision for Anton Dudik could come to reality.

The manager was very clear when the Ukranian forward signed that he wasn't a player that was immediately ready to play first team football but a potential diamond in the rough that had been recommended to him.

One concern with sending him away from Brunton Park would be how well he can adapt to a new environment again. He's had quite a traumatic time with fleeing his home country to come here. Making him move to a new team could negatively affect his development.

They ultimately need to get him game time if he is to become the player that Simpson sees him one day being and the only way to do that would be to loan him out.
