Newcastle United clashed heads with Liverpool at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a good result on the road. The Magpies made a solid start to the game and managed to get to the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline.

Mohamed Salah scored the opener in the 49th minute but Alexander Isak managed to equalise for Newcastle just five minutes later. The home team took the lead again in the 74th minute when Curtis Jones found the back of the net before Cody Gakpo got his name on the scoresheet in the 78th minute. Sven Botman got a goal back for Eddie Howe’s side just three minutes later before Salah killed the game off for Liverpool from the penalty spot late in the game. The match finished with Newcastle suffering a tough 4-2 loss away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player performed during the match against the Reds.

GK: Martin Dubravka – 8.5/10

Dubravka made ten excellent saves during the game and should be proud of his performance tonight despite giving away two penalties.

RB: Tino Livramento – 7/10

He performed his defensive duties well but offered very little going forward.

CB: Fabian Schar – 6.5/10

Schar cleared the danger when he could and made one good chance in the opponent’s half.

CB: Sven Botman – 7/10

He did his best to keep the opposition attackers frustrated and deserves credit for scoring a good goal in the second half.
