It was an evening to remember for Clarets fans, as they saw their side secure their return to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over the Blades.

A first half double from Captain Fantastic Josh Brownhill was enough to ensure there would be a party in that part of East Lancashire on Easter Monday.

However, dramatic footage from after the game has cast a slight shadow over the celebrations, on what was an emotionally charged evening at Turf Moor.

Long after the full-time whistle had blown, Sheffield United players began to make their way onto the team bus as they prepared to leave Turf Moor.

However, footage courtesy of @away_ends on X shows a group of Burnley supporters gesticulating and using fairly unsavoury language towards a couple of Blades players as they're boarding the team bus.

Taking the brunt of the tirade from Clarets fans appears to be Blades goalkeeper Adam Davies, whilst defender Jack Robinson also appears to be standing behind his teammate.

The two United players we see in the footage are eventually pulled away from the situation by what appears to be a member of the Sheffield United staff, which was a smart course of action to take as things looked like they were threatening to turn even nastier.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder criticised Burnley's security protocol after the game

As expected, and as is fairly customary when a promotion is secured on home soil, a pitch invasion at Turf Moor occurred as the full-time whistle was blown.

However, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has crititicised the lack of protection he and his players received by Burnley and their security staff, confessing that it was a "scary" situation to be in.

Speaking in his post-match press conference via journalist Justin Allen on X, Wilder said: "Well we were told by the referee before that we'd be getting stewards surrounding us - I think they went on the missing list. Completely went on the missing list.

"So it was quite scary out there at the end. There's people coming and doing bits and pieces at you. Understandable that their emotions are running high, but I didn't think we got protected by the football club and the stewards at all.

"The referee, when I spoke to him afterwards, he noticed that as well. So, I suppose when 20, 30, 40, 50 lads are running at you, shouting bits and pieces at the end of a game, it's quite difficult to just get off.

"But I'll be absolutely stunned if anything comes our way on any of that."
