Dr. Jens Buchta officially departs the club

After spending 15 years on the supervisory board – including 10 of those as vice-chairman and the last 12 months as chairman – Dr. Jens Buchta officially left the club at the members’ meeting on Saturday (17/7). The 58-year-old has stepped down from the board at his own request, a decision he announced on 10th June.

At the end of the members’ meeting, Peter Lange, Dr. Buchta’s deputy, thanked his colleague for the 15 years he spent on the supervisory board and wished him all the best for the future. Following that, the Schalke fans present applauded the long-term board member.

Before the meeting was officially ended, Buchta offered free beer to all members in attendance at the VELTINS-Arena. All Schalker then sang the club anthem together.
