West Ham players are taking inspiration from their teammates’ performances at the Qatar World Cup.
Hammers midfielder Flynn Downes was in the starting lineup on Tuesday in a 4-2 victory over Cambridge United and has revealed David Moyes’ side are excited to have their international stars return.
“The boys who have gone away [to the World Cup] are playing very well,” said Downes.
“They can take a lot of confidence from that. They are all important players [for their countries]. When they come back, they will bring a good buzz.
“With Dec [Rice], it’s the same old. He is one of the best in the world in that position. It is a testament to all the work he puts in. It is paying off for him.”
West Ham return to Premier League action on Boxing Day as they travel to Fulham.
