Former Polokwane City FC striker wants another European experience
Douglas Mapfumo wants a new European experience
Douglas Mapfumo, the former Polokwane City FC and Cape Town City FC striker, is now eyeing a move to Europe after becoming a free agent. The 25-year-old Zimbabwean forward parted ways with Polokwane City FC following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, leaving his next career move open for speculation.
Earlier reports suggested a potential switch to Scottland FC, a club in Zimbabwe’s top division that boasts fellow countrymen Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona, and Walter Musona. However, despite discussions between the player’s representatives and the club, no agreement was reached. Mapfumo ultimately decided to reject their offer, paving the way for new opportunities abroad.
Now, with his sights set on European football, the talented attacker is exploring fresh challenges to advance his career.
Press reports indicate that the player has also received an offer from Poland, and a move to a league like the Polish league would certainly be a good option for him. He will seek to impress the Zimbabwean national team coach in order to participate in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will be held in Morocco.
