Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure hopes his form at club level can get him more game time with France.
The central midfielder is a key figure in the team that Carlo Ancelotti has assembled for the Toffees.
Doucoure and his teammates have enjoyed some impressive results this season, defeating Tottenham, Chelsea, Leicester City and Arsenal this season.
He hopes it will convince manager Didier Deschamps to give him more chances with France.
"Of course, I want to help Everton reach a good level and maybe the national team can come after that," Doucoure told evertontv.
"It is my main target [next] year. I am very happy with these words from a manager like Carlo Ancelotti.
"In the past three or four games, I feel I am getting better. I feel like I am finding my best form.
"In my previous club [Watford], I became a leader. I think I can do the same at Everton.
"I hope I can be an important player.
"I will keep going and stay humble."
