Borussia Dortmund's three-game winning streak came to an end as they failed to find a way through Bundesliga surprise-package Heidenheim.
The visitors appeared to break the deadlock in the first-half when Donyell Malen was played in behind the Heidenheim defence before rounding the keeper and tucking the ball home.
The goal was chalked off after a lengthy VAR check however, as the play was offside in the build-up to the goal.
Dortmund continued to push for the opener but struggled to carve out meaningful scoring chances. To make matters worse, Heidenheim's threat on the break grew throughout the second-half.
With a point in hand, the hosts sunk into their own half and held out until the final whistle.
The draw saw Dortmund miss an opportunity to extend their lead over 5th place RB Leipzig.
