Borussia Dortmund came back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to rescue a point in a breathless 3-3 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday evening.
Scorers: Marmoush (PEN) 8′, 24′, Chaïbi 68′; Sabitzer 45+1′, Moukoko 54′, Brandt 82′
Omar Marmoush gave a rejuvenated Eagles side the early advantage from the penalty spot when he nervelessly stroked down the middle following a VAR check.
It didn’t take long for the Egyptian international to grab his second from close range after Gregor Kobel palmed a shot into his path.
The Dortmund goalkeeper then exited to an apparent eye issue after a collision but his side did offer a glimmer of hope before half-time when Marcel Sabitzer pulled one back.
They made the most of that lifeline with an equaliser nine minutes into the second half as Youssoufa Moukoko finally got off the mark in the Bundesliga after being sprung from the bench to drill a low effort home from the centre of the box.
But that good work was undone when slack defending allowed Farès Chaïbi too much space in the area to shift onto his right foot and slide into the far corner, only for Dortmund to pull themselves off the canvas again with eight minutes left when Karim Adeyemi’s low cross was steered home by the in-form Julian Brandt from close range to rescue a point.
The result leaves BVB fourth, two points behind Bayern Munich ahead of their meeting next week.
