Dortmund Hit by Defensive Blow Ahead of New Season

Borussia Dortmund confirmed on Monday that defender Niklas Sule will be sidelined for about 2 month due to leg muscle injury suffered during Sunday’s friendly against Juventus.

Injury Details & Impact

The 29 year old center back came on early in the match replacing Mats Hummels after 18 minute but had to leave in the 2nd half because of the muscle problem. Dortmund lost the friendly 2 - 1 to Juventus without Sule completing the game.

Matches Affected

Sule'll miss Dortmund’s upcoming DFB Pokal tie against Essen later this week as well as several Bundesliga fixtures. The team begins its league campaign against St. Pauli on 23 Aug.

Sule's been key part of Dortmund’s defense since joining from Bayern Munich and his absence will be significant blow to coach Edin Terzic’s squad as they prepare for the 2025 /26 season.
